Riverine Woods |
|
Riverine Woods, earlier known as Van Ghat River Lodge was established in 2003. A fishing and wildlife conservation lodge was set up on the bank of the Ramganga River near the Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttaranchal, Northern India.

The resort, fully aware of its surroundings and responsibilities to the community, has provided employment opportunities for a number of local people, and through this arrangement, has established some of the best managed Mahseer fishing beats in the state. As a direct consequence of the improved fish stocks, the surrounding ecosystem has dramatically improved, with the return of otters and turtles - creatures which have not been seen for some years.
The resort officially opened in November 2005, comprises of five cottages of locally sourced materials, and is able to provide a comprehensive outdoor orientated experience for visitors, whilst at the same time offering the opportunity to find complete tranquillity and seclusion.
Location :
Riverine Woods is located in Corbett Tiger Reserve. It is the wildest jungle lodge of Corbett. It is located 2.5 km inside the jungle area of the park, which is accessed by criss crossing Ramganga in a 4X4. It is 35 km from Tiger Camp. The nearest airport to Corbett is Pantnagar, 133 km away. The nearest railhead and bus stand is Ramnagar, 50 km away. New Delhi is 260 km away by road.

Rooms :
The 5 cottages at Riverine Woods are comfortable and spacious, complete with heaters and attached bathrooms with modern fittings and hot/cold water. The entire construction is handiwork of traditional builders with prime focus on vital natural elements - sunlight, wind and rainfall. The rooms are cool in summers and warm in winters - a hallmark of traditional, ancient homes in this region. The large mud cottages are thatched with savannah grass, over a lining of bamboo ceiling. Large airy windows and verandas on 3 sides of the cottages afford splendid views of the wooded hills and river valley. Room service is also available.
Dining :
Food is prepared at the camp by a team on site, and consists of hygienic and wholesome food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner consist of Indian, Chinese and European cuisines. Tea and coffee are provided throughout the day. Meals are served in the dining room and sun-downer drinks are available in the roundhouse near the river. The dining hall offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape while you enjoy a wholesome meal.
